Katana – 1060 High Carbon Steel Traditional Samurai Sword

This finely crafted folded steel Katana is made following the traditional Japanese forging process. The blade is exceptionally sharp, folded 13 times to create 8,192 layers, resulting in a distinctive grain pattern that emerges from the repeated folding during forging. The blade undergoes heat treatment, tempering, and oil quenching to achieve the perfect balance of flexibility and hardness. It is then hand-polished with multiple grades of sharpening stones, giving the surface a mirror-like finish. The Katana comes with a black lacquered hardwood saya, silk sageo/ito, solid alloy fittings, and genuine rayskin (same’). The full tang is securely fastened to the handle with two bamboo mekugi. This sword is an excellent choice for dojo students, collectors, cutting practice, or as a display piece. It is strong enough to cut through bamboo yet sharp enough to slice paper effortlessly. Each Katana is individually handmade, so slight variations in specifications may occur.
