Traditional Samurai Sword – Minamoto no Yori style 1060 high carbon steel forging

This samurai sword adopts the traditional folding forging process. After 13 manual folds, 8,192 layers of steel grain are formed. The blade presents a unique ground texture, showing the craftsman’s exquisite forging skills.

The blade is treated with clay tempering. The craftsman applies special clay by hand. The blade is thinner and the back is thicker. The blade cools quickly during quenching, forming a perfect combination of high-hardness blade and flexible back, while presenting a beautiful blade pattern (Hamon).

Finally, the blade is hand-polished with multiple whetstones to achieve mirror-level polishing, with a cold light and sharp edge.
